Josh grew up in the southwest border town of Chula Vista, California. Like Abogado Ray, Josh’s experience growing up near the border helped to shape his perspective on immigration. He recalls his childhood best friend commuting to school in Chula Vista from Tijuana as well as family and friends who crossed the border daily for work as examples of the international and interdependent economies and cultures of the borderlands. In 2012, Josh enrolled at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. While pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Josh also developed a passion for social justice and community advocacy through his involvement in organizations on campus including the Hispanic Cultural House and the Latinx Ivy League Conference. He graduated with his bachelor’s in computer science from Brown University in May, 2016. To this day, Josh dedicates himself to issues of politics and activism, while cultivating his interest in tech. Josh believes that ignorance and misinformation are some our biggest obstacles to face in pursuing social justice in the United States, and he hopes to do work that brings knowledge (and power) to the people. At YMLG, Josh works closely with the attorneys to help research and form the best defenses for our clients as all as maintains and introduces technological resolutions to improve our firm.
