YMLG In the Community

LUCHA Arizona celebrated the ten year anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program by hosting a “DACAversary” celebration on Saturday, June 20th. It was a very well attended event featuring ballet folklorico dancers, face painting, and delicious food. The Ybarra Maldonado Law Group was honored to be present providing free consultations for the community members in attendance. • Along the back wall of the cafeteria, tables were set up with a variety of immigration resources. Beneath a red tent reading “Sus Abogados de Confianza,” the Ybarra Maldonado Law Group offered free immigration legal consultations with attorneys.
• By the end of the event, attorney Ray Ybarra estimated about 20 people had stopped by for free consultations on topics including consular processing, DACA renewals, status adjustment and asylum.But Ybarra said the general consensus is that there aren’t enough options. “They want something more. They want a permanent solution.”

Earlier in the week, attorney Ray Ybarra Maldonado received a recognition from the Arizona Dream Act Coalition for his “outstanding dedication and commitment to help our immigrant communities throughout these years.”  Since DACA’s inception in 2012, the Ybarra Maldonado Law Group has given numerous presentations to school, church, and community groups on DACA and Know Your Rights Presentations. YMLG has also partcipated in community events filling out DACA applications and assisting those seeking the protected status in gathering the required documentation.
