Lysrooy "Lee" Gaxiola, CP

LLee Gaxiola has worked in the legal field in Phoenix, Arizona, since 2006 and brings a deeply personal understanding of the U.S. immigration system to his work with clients at Ybarra Maldonado Law Group. Having experienced and overcome removal proceedings as a child and later becoming a proud, naturalized U.S. citizen, Lee understands firsthand the uncertainty, stress, and complex challenges that can accompany an immigration case.

As a senior paralegal, Lee works closely with Attorney Ybarra Maldonado and the firm’s dedicated legal team, providing knowledgeable and compassionate support to individuals and families navigating the U.S. immigration system. His personal immigration experience, combined with nearly two decades of legal experience, gives him a unique perspective when working with clients from Phoenix and communities throughout the United States and around the world.

Lee currently focuses on immigration removal defense, assisting with all aspects of cases before the U.S. immigration courts. He is committed to helping clients understand the legal process, prepare their cases, and pursue the best possible outcomes. He particularly values building strong relationships with clients and collaborating with people from diverse cultural and national backgrounds.

Fluent in English and Spanish, with Spanish as his native language, Lee is able to communicate directly and effectively with Spanish-speaking clients and families. His cultural understanding and firsthand experience with immigration allow him to connect with clients on a personal level while providing professional, detail-oriented legal support.

Lee began his legal education at Phoenix College, where he completed its American Bar Association-accredited legal studies program and earned his paralegal certificate with honors and highest distinction. He subsequently passed the two-part National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) Certified Paralegal® examination. Lee is also a lifetime member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and has completed dozens of hours of continuing legal education (CLE) coursework throughout his career.

Throughout his career, Lee has provided legal support to numerous attorneys across multiple areas of law, developing extensive experience in legal research, case preparation, client communication, and the day-to-day demands of complex legal matters. Today, his primary focus is helping Attorney Ybarra Maldonado and the Ybarra Maldonado Law Group team advocate for clients facing immigration court proceedings, removal proceedings, and deportation-related challenges.
