What Is Presidential Impeachment?
According to the United States Constitution, impeachment involves trying a federal government official for “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.” Only the Senate may try a federal official, and only the House of Representatives has the power of impeachment. In simpler terms, the House charges an official, while the Senate acts as a court and tries them. If an official is convicted by the Senate, they will be removed from office.
